The Frank Shorter Track Classic is a track meet honoring one of America's greatest ever distance athletes, Frank Shorter.
Every year we will celebrate Frank's career, his devotion to the sport of running, and promotion of health and fitness, while also acknowledging a different Boulder Olympian every year. For 2026, we are excited to announce …………………………, as the local Olympian we will be honoring.

The Frank Shorter Track Classic on Sunday May 3rd, will host a series of track races over 800m, 1-Mile and 5,000m, and will be held at Niwot High School (8989 Niwot Rd, Niwot, CO 80503).
ABOUT FRANK SHORTER
Frank was a two time Olympian and won a gold medal in the marathon at the 1972 Munich Olympics while also placing 5th in the 10,000m. Then 4 years later, Frank won a silver medal in the marathon at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. Frank also won the U.S national cross country championships four times (1970 - 1973), was the U.S Olympic Trials champion at 10,000m and the marathon in both 1972 and 1976, won both the 10,000m and the marathon at the 1971 Pan American Games and was a four time winner of the prestigious Fukuoka marathon (1971 - 1974).

Mountain Lions Participants - FREE
12 YEARS & UNDER - $10.00
13 - 19 YEARS - $15.00 ($10.00 for any additional events)
20 YEARS & OLDER - $20.00 ($15.00 for any additional events)

PLEASE NOTE: The final timetable for our meet, is determined by how many registrations we get. A rough timetable with the slowest heat going first is:
9:00AM - 800m
10:00AM - 1-Mile
11:00AM - 5,000m
ADDITIONAL NOTES
There are NO age restrictions for the 800m and 1-Mile.
You must be 13 years or older for the 5,000m.
There are NO time standards to enter.
All athletes will be placed in heats with other athletes that have recorded similar times.
Heats will run from slowest times to fastest times.
