THIS RACE IS A BOLDER BOULDER QUALIFIER
The Alpine Bank Boulder Thanksgiving Day 5K and Kids 1K Fun Run at Flatiron Park - 2211 Central Ave, Boulder, CO 80301, is an event celebrating family and friends and the many aspects in our community that we can be thankful for. It is also a time to think about those who are less fortunate and in keeping with traditions, this event will be supporting Boulder's Harvest of Hope Pantry with a 100% donation from our fundraising proceeds. We are kindly asking all participants to donate non-perishable packaged and canned foods on the morning of the event which will be passed on to Harvest of Hope Pantry.
In 1983, the CU Turkey Trot started out as an intramural event put on by the founder of the Boulder Road Runners, Rich Castro. The event became public in the early 90’s, and by around 1995, the Boulder race had over 1000 finishers and the event became a regular for many Boulderites and their families until 2015, which was the last year that the race was held. The event has donated over $100,000 for Community Food Share as well as many thousands of pounds of canned goods.
Harvest of Hope Pantry is the only food pantry in Boulder that serves everyone who comes to their door. The Pantry provides free, healthy, supplemental food to Boulder families and individuals in need. Shoppers can select the items of their choice, in a welcoming and non-judgmental grocery store setting.

The Alpine Bank Boulder Thanksgiving Day Fun Run is also a chance for us to recognize an individual who has made significant contributions to their nonprofit organization, and our local community through their volunteer service. This year, we called for nominations for the Alpine Bank Boulder Volunteer Of The Year Award, to acknowledge an individual that has provided an exceptional level of support, activity, commitment and/ or leadership, over an extended period of time, and whose dedicated service has had a significant impact on the nonprofit organization that they serve, and the community at large. The award winner will be celebrated on this year’s race medal!
The 2023 Alpine Bank Boulder Volunteer Of The Year Award, is Diane Murphy.
Diane was nominated by Alyson Duffey, who is the "Director of Development" for Boulder Open Space Conservancy. Diane has been involved with Boulder Open Space Conservancy for 6 years as a Board Chair and organization co-founder. Here is what Alyson had to say about Diane:
“Diane Murphy has dedicated her life to preserving and loving wild public lands, trails, and wildlife habitat. She founded the community non-profit Boulder Open Space Conservancy (BOSC) in 2017 at the 50th Anniversary of the City of Boulder's Open Space and Mountain Parks department. This unique public-private partnership was created to leverage public resources and collective stewardship with private philanthropy to fulfill its mission. Diane is now the Chair of the BOSC Board of Trustees and very generously volunteers her time and resources whole-heartedly to the organization.”
